After looking at this photograph you might be getting lots of thoughts in mind, but after knowing the truth of this picture you could get emotive. This painting is made to depict the relationship and caring nature of a daughter towards his father. It is the story of a Daughter (Pero) and a father (Cimon).
Cimon committed a crime for which he was imprisoned until the government declares the punishment for the act. The authorities did not show any mercy on him. Instead, they decided to sentence him to hunger death. Death by starvation, in which he will not be getting any food or water, and he will be left to die inside the prison so that he realizes his mistake and regret before he dies.
His daughter, Pero could not bear the thought of her father dying of starvation. She begged the government to at least allow her to meet her father every day, until his death.
She was checked by the prison officers carefully before going into prison so that she does not get any food for her father. Cimon was already a week into starvation and had become very weak and could barely open his mouth. Pero could not see her father in this situation. She just did not want her father to die like this. She started breastfeeding Cimon so that he stays alive. And this went on, for a week.
When after so many days, the old man was not dead. The security guards got suspicious and caught Pero breastfeeding her father. A case was registered against her, but her selfless nature wins the heart of the governor realizing the compassion and love of the woman for her father and she wins the freedom of her father.
Compassion is human love
The daughter's moment of compassion changes everything in her father's life. This piece of history brings us into focus what compassion is in life the importance of compassion in our daily lives which people so often tend to overlook in our self-righteous attempt always to be fair-minded and law-abiding. Compassion is human love at its best because it is the form of love that gives without any expectation of receiving.
Compassion is so important to humankind, and it seems to be lacking within modern society. It embraces the noblest characteristics of human beings. It allows us to think of others instead of always focusing on ourselves. It refuses to be selfish; it is willing to forgive, and it accepts people for who they are.
Compassion replaces judgment with acceptance
Compassion gives us the ability to understand someone else’s condition and the desire to take action to improve their lives. It is the quality that allows us to step outside of ourselves and see the situations of others. It supplies the will power to do what is necessary to make the world a more caring place.
Kindness too often gets in the way of that. With the complications of today’s concept of success, compassion often only kicks in during critical, painful, or emotional moments. If we do not receive compassion from others during a life-or-death situation—we die.
Compassion is the most powerful strength in the world. It can replace judgment with acceptance because it makes no distinction between age, ethnicity, gender, or disability. It freely embraces the rich diversity of humanity by treating everyone as equals. It benefits both those who receive it and those who share it. Every person on earth desires it, and every human being deserves it.
It is never too late for us to make a positive difference in the world. We simply start by thinking of others first. We consider their needs instead of focusing exclusively on what we want. We try to realize that our problems are often insignificant compared to what others face.
